Mendip DC are consulting the public on their preferred policy for the expansion of Wells with housing on the Haybridge fields (actually in St. Cuthbert Out parish). These fields form the principal dispersal area of harmful containments from the stack of the proposed 24/7 pyrolysis waste incinerator on the old railway line to the west – an impossible call for any housing developer aspiring to sell houses, since the pyrolysis process remains unproven technology. Moreover, MDC want to heat their Leisure Centre pool from the plant’s waste heat and the plant operator wants to heat the housing likewise, leaving the house owners boiler-less if the plant is shut down for unsafe working. The consultation ends 31st March.
